Due Process and Accountability

Every parent deserves due process. Documentation of agency decisions is how accountability begins.

Due process means fair procedures: notice of what is alleged, a meaningful chance to be heard, and decisions based on facts. To protect your due-process rights: 1. Document every agency decision and the reason you were given. 2. Keep the factual record — dates, names, and what was said. 3. Prepare questions for your attorney about the evidence and the standard being applied. 4. Know the difference between educational information and legal advice, and get counsel for your specific case. Organized documentation of agency decisions is often the foundation of both a strong case and real accountability.
